History
The origination of the JC Ballers began in 2006, in Nevada.
At the age of nine, many young boys were very successful in competing
at a high level of the AAU. Throughout a twelve month period, the young
team placed within the top five in tournaments located in Concord, California
Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. Subsequent to their success, the
team of players were invited to perform in Orlando, Florida, on the highest
national level stage. Upon arriving back in Nevada, and after much scrutiny
of the overall coaching, traveling and competing by the team, several
parents and players came together and under the guidance of Coach Chuck
Mack, formed what has now become the JC Ballers program.
As of November, 2008, several teams of both girls and boys, ages 11 through 18, were practicing and playing out of several city and privately owned gyms throughout Southern Nevada. The respective teams have played in several national level tournaments, statewide tournaments, city leagues and controlled scrimmages. The practice schedules of the program, since inception, have been consistently three practices during the school year and practices five to six days a week during the summer months. The program was founded on a twelve month schedule, lessening the emphasis on so called 'traveling teams' for our young teens, and concentrating on consistent fundamental training, in basketball, fitness and tournament play when the school schedules allow.
The program has since expanded in the Upstate New York region, a fruitful
location of athletes and academic schools of all levels and criteria.
The New York region has had a bountiful history of athletic prowess for
close to a century, in all sports. As is the opinion of those representing
the JC Ballers program, in light of the different affiliations of basketball
programs that have proliferated in this particular area of New York, it
is time that the young athletes and their parents be given an alternative
program in the academic and development of their players, most notably
during the period of time between the players respective school athletic
seasons.
The program is formulated on the foundation of:
God first, Family second, School third, and the JC Ballers program fourth.
All players and parents are asked to affirm this foundation.
Coach Mack and all the other coaches, both permanent and visiting, adhere to the teaching that the players are asked to Work Hard, Stay Focused and most importantly, Have Fun.
The program has always, and will always, accept ALL players, no matter
the lack of finances, athletic gear and/or ability on the basketball court.
The program exists primarily on the generosity of the sponsors and donors
that give of their benefits, whom we affectionately call the "friends
of the JC Ballers". All the coaches and parents and players truly
appreciate the sponsors and donors giving, since there simply would not
be a JC Ballers program, nor could ALL players be accepted equally, without
the aid of our "friends of the program". We ask that all businesses
and people of the New York upstate region consider the JC Ballers program
when evaluating giving of their time, advice and financial aid.
It is proposed that the JC Baller program will be playing in New York State beginning March, 2010.
Our short-term goal is to be able to play out of several gyms throughout the area to make availability
a priority for all players. We are sympathetic to the struggles of parents delivering and picking up
players from the practices and games, and as was the case in Nevada, we will be working on a team
car pooling schedule in the future. Presently, we are asking the Mayors and other decision makers in
the communities to aid us in gym locations and supplies so to make all players and parents
responsibilities less, so the emphasis for the individual families can be to strive in a
positive atmosphere, safe and close in vicinity to their respective neighborhoods. The coaches and
representatives of the JC Ballers " thank " those representatives upfront for their efforts and
their concerns for our players and parents and successes of our program.
Please check the local newspapers and our website for our sign - up dates, times and locations.
Also, feel free to contact Coach Mack by email with any questions, JCballersusa@nycap.rr.com.
We thank God for our history to date and ask that there be many quality years in the future for
all players and families in all athletic and academic programs everywhere.
